On May 1, selectmen signed a victualer’s license for Cozy’s Dockside lessee Mike Nguyen. Selectmen also discussed with him repair work expected to begin on the property later this month.

This is the third year Mike Nguyen and Louise Monroe will operate the seasonal eatery. Earlier this month, Nguyen reported storm property damage. Selectmen directed the public works department to begin maintenance work with gravel and concrete to repair damage later this month.

In other action, Selectman Gerry Gamage reported two students are interested in submitting a Bryant scholarship application and a decision will likely be made May 13. In 1991, Thomas M. Bryant created a $500 scholarship in his father’s name, Arthur S. Bryant. Each year, selectmen award a Southport resident graduating from Boothbay Region High School who is the “most worthy and needy of financial assistance to help them in getting more advanced training and education.”

Selectmen approved Mari Tiwari’s request to rent the town hall for a 2024 volunteer appreciation luncheon on July 31.

Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 in the town hall.
